Ripon Spring Bank Holiday Festival and Stuff

Well, here we go with the first blog since we went live! What’s going on here for your delight and entertainment.  If you have never been to Ripon you should put it in your 1000 places to see before you die list – Ripon has an awful lot going for it, according to most of our guests, young and old. You enjoy the quirky character and charm of it.

The next big event is the Cathedral beer festival (on the lawns outside!) on Bank Holiday Monday and then the spring festival with something for everyone(even if you hate having a funfair in the marketplace! 25th-29th May.)

Events begin with the salute to the Mayor of Ripon in the morning of Sunday 14th by the Royal Engineers, stationed in Ripon. I love it when the soldiers are on parade in the city. Nice to get out there in the sunshine and support them. Followed by lunch with us – perfect.

The farmers’ market will be in the square on 21st May and every 3rd Sunday during the season.

Sunday 21st is also a Ripon raceday- slow traffic on the approaches but a great day out.

May 29th is the children’s tea party in the town square – hope they get some warm weather this year.

Especially as I shall be getting out of here for a few days compassionate leave when my daughter comes home from Australia for 2 weeks, so I may see some of you out and about - unless she wants to do some part-time waitressing – now there’s an idea….
